Fungus growing on cedar tree stump

Top view of the two fungus growing on this old cedar tree stump. When we were kids, we used to call these "shelf mushrooms". Sometimes you can find them much larger. We would break them off, take them home, and you can scratch the undersides and write in it.  Of course, now that I'm an adult, or so they tell me, I know better than to disturb nature and damage the cycle of life and stop these                   decomposers in their job.
