The town used carve names into the boards for the boardwalk as a fund raiser. My uncle from Delaware loved the Adirondacks and used to drive up to visit as often as he could. He was one of the last people to get in on this way to memorialize his love of the area. They have additional fund raisers now. You can buy a bench for the town, or a paver for the walkway being created from the parking area to the beach.
The Inlet area has a huge variety of campgrounds and cabin rentals to enjoy all the hiking, boating, and nature activities you can think of. It's a small, rustic village with a few gift shops, restaurants, the basics. It's a small, cute, rustic, tourist town that is still enjoyable.
